Mammooty is a legendary Indian actor hit headlines in his 70s for all good reasons. His age-defying looks attest age is just a number. Check out his pics if you don’t trust me. Age throws tantrums at you no matter how you defend it. The actor who has never taken a break from his 30-plus years of career might be feeling it inside. That fatigue is temporary. In all public appearances, Mammookka (fondly called so) is a stylish icon adored by the film fraternity in general. Even the young crop of actors including his son DQ hasn’t crossed him. In star conversations with young anchors who grew up watching his films, Mammootty seems cool and retorting. An endearing arrogance elevates his personality over his co-stars. He is candid and avoids unwanted humility.
Mammooty is considered a method actor and Mohanlal, a natural actor. When the latter succumbed to shallow roles for a long, Mammootty relentlessly updated himself to keep up with the expectations of new-age filmmakers and opened his doors to them. Mammootty 3.0 is far from his former self of an actor being criticized for stiff acting, action, and dance sequences. I see him as an actor with perseverance and hard work. The ever-modish actor honored with three national and eight state awards is still starving for good characters and accolades. In his own words – he dreamt of cinema at an early age and will never be content with it. Not mere words, all of his recent films demonstrate how passionate and obsessed he is in his job. Puzhu, Rorschach, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, Kaathal – The Core, Bramayugam..undoubtedly, the reinventing Mammotty is the forerunner in current Malayalam films. Unbiased about his image, he does satiate his craving for experimental roles. What’s most rewarding is, Mammootty Kampany, his production house encourages new-gen films with substantial content. It’s pure love for the medium. The actor hardly skips even a short film gained attention on YouTube.
I liked a flexible Mohanlal in Malaikottai Vaaliban. Off that he cakewalked his recent roles. Seems, Lal has much to learn from the great method actor Mammooty reigning Mollywood in his 70s.
