Ireland's Players Receive Revised Central Contracts with Pay Raise
Cricket Ireland (CI) and the Irish Cricketers' Association (ICA) have reached an agreement on revised central contracts for Ireland's players, securing a pay raise for the players. This agreement comes after a stand-off, during which players rejected an earlier offer from the board.
The new contracts will apply until the end of February 2025 and include improved terms for the players. Warren Deutrom, CI's chief executive, confirmed that the players have received a pay increase, highlighting the board's commitment to rewarding players for their contributions to the sport's growth in Ireland.
The negotiations between CI and the ICA took time due to the complexity of the new contracting model and budgetary considerations. Despite the delay, both parties maintained positive working relations throughout the process.
Former Ireland batter Cecelia Joyce, now the ICA president, emphasized the unity of the players throughout the negotiation process and highlighted the significance of the outcome for professional players and the game in Ireland.
Details about the finalized Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the list of contracted players for the 2024-25 season will be announced by CI in due course.
This development reflects CI's commitment to supporting professional players and investing in the growth of cricket in Ireland, ensuring transparency and clarity in player contracts and revenue sharing arrangements.
