G-Dragon Joins KAIST as Visiting Professor, Blending Entertainment and Technology
G-Dragon has been named a visiting professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). KAIST announced that G-Dragon received his appointment in the Department of Mechanical Engineering during the “Innovate Korea 2024” event held at their Daejeon headquarters on June 5. The event, hosted by KAIST and the National Research Council of Science and Technology (NST), featured discussions on future technologies in artificial intelligence (AI) and K-pop. The panel included G-Dragon, Galaxy Corporation’s CEO Choi Yong Ho, and KAIST President Lee Kwang Hyung.
G-Dragon’s role as a visiting professor will last for two years, until June 4, 2026. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he will serve as a global ambassador for KAIST, helping to enhance the institution's international profile. G-Dragon is expected to deliver special lectures on leadership, sharing insights from his career as an artist and offering students a broader perspective on leadership and innovation.
Expressing his enthusiasm for his new role, G-Dragon remarked, “It is an honor to be a visiting professor at KAIST, an institute renowned for producing scientific geniuses. I look forward to creating great synergy, or a ‘big bang,’ by combining the expertise of top science and technology professionals with my experience in the entertainment field.”
G-Dragon’s appointment is in line with his increasing involvement in AI-related activities. Last year, he signed an exclusive contract with Galaxy Corporation, under which he has been exploring various AI initiatives. He also attended the Consumer Electronics Show 2024 (CES 2024) in Las Vegas, one of the world's largest electronics and IT exhibitions, showcasing his interest in cutting-edge technologies.
The appointment of G-Dragon as a visiting professor at KAIST highlights a unique intersection of entertainment and technology, suggesting new collaborative opportunities between these fields. His involvement is anticipated to inspire students and bridge the gap between scientific innovation and creative industries. Congratulations to G-Dragon on this prestigious appointment!
