It's not just important to take care of what we eat. It's how we eat, and the amount of physical activity we indulge in, that makes a huge difference in how well our bodies digest food! Here is some good-to-know;
1 Chew food well - Digestion starts while we are chewing the food in our mouths. So if you chew each morsel well, it'll ease the digestion process.
2 Eat till you're 80% full - Your stomach makes a churning motion to ensure all enzymes mix well with the food to digest it. So if you're full to the brim, there will be no space for the food to move, leaving undigested food lying in your stomach for an extended period. Gas, bloating, bad breath are all issues that may follow.
3 Avoid water with meals - It dilutes the stomach enzymes and make them less effective.
4 Physical activity is a must - Peristalsis movement in the intestines helps the food move further. Exercise ensures this movement is smooth, aiding digestion.
