At last. 👏
Tireless efforts of Punjab police
Finally, Amritpal Singh was nabbed by the Punjab police. The fugitive separatist wanted to reignite the Khalistan fire in sensitive border state which engulfed it in the 80s and 90s resulting in huge loss of life and property. But his nefarious plans were checked by the Punjab police and intelligence agencies before he could do more damage.
After his arrest, Amritpal has been taken to a prison in Assam. Before his arrest Amritpal managed to give a sermon in a Gurdwara in Rode village, the village of terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale who rained death and destruction in Punjab in the 80s. Punjab police officials say Amritpal was cornered the Rode village and he had no escape route, dismissing the talks of surrender.
Amritpal wanted to become another Bhindranwale and wanted to capture the holy seat of Sikhism but alert Punjab police managed to keep him away from Golden Tenple or all other holy Gurdwaras while he was in the run.
But one thing is clear, Punjab government and central agencies will have to remain on high alert to avoid emergence of Amritpals in the state.
