Ever-smiling photo journalist Santok Singh, fondly known as 'Tayaji,' passes away at 78
The world of journalism mourns the loss of a seasoned photojournalist, Santok Singh, affectionately called 'Tayaji' within the fraternity. At the age of 78, he bid adieu after a prolific career capturing significant moments that etched the political and cultural landscapes of Punjab.
Santok Singh's journey into journalism embarked upon his retirement from the Punjab Small Scale Industrial Department. Over the last two decades, he carved a niche for himself, earning accolades for capturing nearly every prominent political figure, establishing personal connections with Chief Ministers and Governors alike. His lens immortalized the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Captain Amrinder Singh, and numerous others.
A Multi-Faceted Artist
Beyond the realm of politics, Santok Singh possessed a keen interest in documenting cultural, religious events, and everyday life. His diverse portfolio mirrored not just the political milieu but also the vibrant tapestry of Punjab's rich heritage.

Former Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore conveyed heartfelt condolences, reminiscing about the affectionate moniker 'Tayaji,' acknowledging Santok Singh's impactful legacy.

Santok Singh valiantly fought cancer, a battle that eventually claimed his life.
He was survived by a son Inderjit Singh, who is a camera person with PTC News Channel, and two daughters.
