The parents of Ethan Crumbley, the kid who murdered 4 students in a horrible school shooting in Michigan, were recently sentenced each to 10 to 15 years in prison.
The duo were convicted in separate trials for involuntary manslaughter, stemming from their failure to intervene and prevent the tragic school shooting, like ignoring Ethan’s mental health issues and failing to lock up their gun which was used in the shooting.
There’s no good outcome in this case. Four students are dead and now two highly negligent parents will serve over a decade behind bars. Is this prison sentence deserved? Absolutely, it should remind parents across the country that their children are their duty, as is their community. This conviction should hopefully make st least some parents more aware and take action when their children show obvious signs of mental health disorders and danger to the public.
