The Delhi Development Authority have recognized the relation between ventilation and airborne infection spread, which is the main of Coronavirus spread. Not just Corona, tuberculosis is also spreads to the airborne route . It doesn't only prevent Corona spread but also TB, measles, influenza and so many other airborne diseases spread through the air.
Now I want to also highlight that it's not just better habitat design, it should be, defined further that all ventilation systems which use mechanical ventilation systems, should particularly have provisions for dilution ventilation.

Now dilution ventilation simply means that if there is a space that has a particular concentration of virus in the air, which is in aerosolized form, the dilution can be done of this concentration in the air, by simply having outside air coming in. If outside air comes in and this air is flushed out just by dilution, there'll be a decrease in this concentration.

It can be done by two ways
A) By natural ventilation- simply open the window
B) By having proper provisions in the air handling units inside the AC system. Which means, when you're using a proper centralized air conditioning system where an AHU air intake is possible.

In normal air conditioners, like split AC or window AC, it is very difficult to do this through technology rather you’ll have to manually open your windows.
There will be a greater chance of infection if you do not keep flushing the inside air and have people coming into your room from outside as split and window ACs keep recirculating the same air.

Another thing which the Delhi master plan has mentioned is the green rated developments.
What is the green paradox? It means that every green rating system, which promotes green building will have to have a smarter AC. The basis of green buildings is energy efficiency and AC is one of the largest energy consumer for buildings. Now, If you want to have a building, which reduces the energy load or which saves your electricity, a smarter AC is then a must.
