Surya Namaskar, also called Sun Salutation is an ancient yogic practice of paying respects to the sun. Seven different postures or Asana are done cyclically into a specific 12 steps pattern in a Surya Namaskar.
Best time to practice?
- The ideal time to perform Surya Namaskar is during sunrise while facing towards the sun. Even if you miss your Surya Namaskar during sunrise/morning), you can also practice it in the evening. Just make sure you do it with an empty stomach and don't miss your surya namaskar practice.
How many suryanamaskar should be done?
- 12 suryanamaskar every single day, start with 6 rounds if you're a beginner. Each round should take upto 1 minute, syncing the breath with the positions.
Some points to remember;
- Do it empty stomach.
- Instead of doing more & more rounds, do lesser rounds and focus on the breath.
- Avoid during menstruation.
- Avoid if you're pregnant, or have high blood pressure.
- Avoid in case of back pain.
- Wear cotton comfortable clothes.
