Xabi Alonso Unlikely to Join Liverpool, the Reds Have Moved to Other Options!
Liverpool seem to be moving away from appointing Xabi Alonso as Jurgen Klopp's successor at Anfield. Instead, Alonso is expected to stay at Bayer Leverkusen. The Times reported that Liverpool did their research and found out that Alonso is likely to remain with the German for another season.
This decision comes as Bayer Leverkusen is close to winning their first Bundesliga title, leading by ten points over Bayern Munich with only eight games left. Liverpool had Alonso on their shortlist along with other contenders like Roberto De Zerbi, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ange Postecoglou. However, with Alonso's probable stay at Leverkusen, the Reds will focus on other options.
This shift could benefit Ruben Amorim's chances. Amorim, currently at Sporting CP, is liked by Liverpool's management, although his limited experience in top European leagues was a concern before. The 39-year-old's Sporting CP are favourites to win the Liga Portugal once again this season and this will further boost the managers profile before the next season.
