"We will see great confrontations between the two," Toni Nadal on Sinner-Alcaraz rivalry
The rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz seems to be gripping the tennis fraternity at the moment. Jannik Sinner claimed his maiden Grand Slam title, as he defeated Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open finals last month.
Former coach and uncle of Rafael Nadal, Toni Nadal believes that the Grand Slam win would give Jannik Sinner the much needed confidence. He expects some great battles between Carlos Alcaraz and the Italian in the coming years.
He also believes that with time Carlos Alcaraz will start gaining more experience. He remains positive about his prospects, and stated that he would bring a lot of joy to Spanish tennis.
"In Sinner, from now on, Alcaraz will have a tough rival. He already was before, but after winning (the Australian Open), he (Jannik Sinner) has extra confidence. And I think we will see great confrontations between the two," Toni Nadal told AS (via Eurosport).
"Alcaraz is very young. I think he is the best. And well, he gave up a match there with Zverev that he could lose. You have to continue trusting him. I believe that he will continue to bring a lot of joy to Spanish tennis," he added.
