- Global Observance: Rare Disease Day is observed annually on the last day of February. It aims to raise awareness among the general public, researchers, health professionals, and policymakers about rare diseases and their impact on patients' lives.
- Initiated by EURORDIS: Rare Disease Day was first launched by EURORDIS (The European Organization for Rare Diseases) and its Council of National Alliances in 2008. It has since become a global event, with over 100 countries participating to advocate for those living with rare diseases.
