Is it that you gave consent for an insurance? And the money was deducted as per your consent which you forgot about?
Oh nein
My money was deducted in SBI bank.
When approached, they said it was a mistake and made me go through intense protocols for a three digit amount refunded which was their fault to begin with.
Then i came across this article!
An article by WIRE details the case of Kundan Kumar, a Bihar engineering graduate, who has been struggling for over a year to unsubscribe from an insurance policy,
Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), that he didn't opt for. His bank, State Bank of India (SBI), deducted money from his account without his consent to enroll him in the scheme. Despite Kumar's attempts, including seeking his insurance application form under the Right to Information Act, the bank has not refunded him or provided the requested documents.
It further exposes a broader issue of banks nationwide illegally deducting money from customers' accounts to meet government targets for insurance schemes, sometimes resorting to forgery.
