The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has started investigating Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra for allegedly being involved in a cash-for-query case. This comes after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a case against her. Moitra didn't show up for questioning by the ED in Delhi, even though she was summoned. She, along with businessman Darshan Hiranandani, has been asked to appear for questioning regarding a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) violation.
Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha last year for allegedly accepting cash and gifts from Hiranandani in exchange for her Parliament login details. She denies any wrongdoing and believes she's being targeted for questioning deals of the Adani Group. She's confident about winning the upcoming Lok Sabha elections despite these investigations. Her constituency Krishnanagar will vote on May 13, with results announced on June 4.
