According to Florian Plettenberg, Tottenham Hotspur are considering signing Timo Werner permanently this summer. Werner joined Spurs on a six-month loan from Leipzig in January and has performed well in his first eight games, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Tottenham do have an option to buy Werner for €17 million, which they must activate by the start of EURO 2024. If they don't, Werner is likely to leave Leipzig anyway, as both the club and the player see no future together beyond this season.
The German international is under contract with Leipzig until 2026, however, he has fallen in rank at the club and was hence loaned out to Tottenham in the first place. However, apart from the Spurs, no other club has shown significant interest in signing Werner so far.
A decision from Spurs is expected by the end of the 2023/24 campaign and hence they still have some time to assess and see if they want to sign Werner permanently.
