Global warming isn't the only crisis the world faces. There's a silent epidemic sweeping across not only India but the whole world – the relentless spread of myopia, or nearsightedness. Affecting 15%-34%(data varies) of Indians, this vision problem is far more prevalent in urban areas. Why? Increased screen time and limited outdoor activity play a major role. Staring at screens for prolonged periods distorts the shape of our eyes(it elongates our eyeball) leading to myopia.
Sadly, myopia can't be reversed, but it can be stopped from increasing further. Spending time outdoors looking at distant objects and ensuring adequate lights in the room is necessary.
