• nutrient-dense foods, especially dark, leafy greens;

Consumption of dairy also increases the levels of IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1), another growth enhancer. IGF-1 helps children grow but has been associated with the development of certain cancers (such as those of the breast, prostate and colon).
and then there is lactose, or milk sugar.
Many people lose the ability to digest lactose with age and report bloating, gastrointestinal upsets and similar issues. lactose intolerance is quite common. and in such individuals, even the consumption of small amounts can cause an imbalance in the gut flora. such people could be sensitive to casein and other dairy protein as well.
Take the case of Shruti Arora ;
A young mother of thirty-three, with a three-month-old baby, she was frustrated with her health and her weight. her haemoglobin, magnesium, ferritin, vitamin b and d3 levels were low. plus, she couldn’t sleep a wink because the baby was colicky and cranky day and night. she was the patient, but it was obvious her problems were also connected with the discomfort her baby was in. I soon realized that both mother and child had to be treated, if the poor mother’s problems had to be resolved. Her symptoms included polycystic ovary syndrome (pCos), acne, dark pigmentation and a hypothyroid condition. she had had a C-section and had gained 23 kg. she told me she was constantly hungry, had hyperacidity, sweet and salt cravings and was gassy.
I could see that antibodies to some foods had crossed over the placental barrier and affected the baby in the womb. My goal was to treat both the mother and the child. because of her autoimmune condition (hypothyroidism), I asked her to remove inflammation- inducing grains and suggested a simple switch to jowar (sorghum) roti.
The effect on the baby was immediate: within a day, the colic had disappeared.
