Born in 1990 in England, Harnaam Kaur at the age of 11 started to notice that she's growing hair on her face. Later a year after she got diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome ( PCOS).
Hirsutism is one of the major and most common symptoms of PCOS, which makes one grow excessive facial and body hair because of high testosterone in a female body.
Although during her teens Harnaam removed her facial hair due to constant bullying and harassment by her peers, but with time she embraced her unconventional self and style.
In 2014, she walked the London Fashion Week and became the first woman with a beard to walk a ramp. Today she's a British anti bullying activist, a life coach, a motivational speaker and a body positive influencer.
Harnaam also holds a Guinness World book record for being the youngest woman to grow a full beard. Her record citation read: "Now with a beard measuring as long as six inches in places, she overcame years of bullying to take ownership of her appearance and achieve this record title at the age of 24 years 282 days.
Harnaam is totally a revolutionary, and a brave woman. An inspiration to many women suffering from PCOS, and other body image issues. She often gets trolled for her beard, but she doesn't care and makes sure her eyeliner game is on point!
She believes that "It's so funny that it's ok when it's on a guy, but when it's on a women it's mocked. Why do I need to keep explaining my body? Women's bodies are so policed.
