The state of Texas hit a road block in a recent case decided by the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas which granted a preliminary injunction sought by immigrant groups blocking Texas from arresting and jailing illegal immigrants under Texas’ new law.
The court, in finding for the immigrant groups, stated that states "may not exercise immigration enforcement power except as authorized by the federal government." Governor Greg Abbott said on the matter that they plan to immediately appeal the decision.
If you are here illegally, you are committing a crime. Plain and simple, and Texas has every right to detain and jail people who commit crimes. To take that away from Texas is tantamount to taking away Texas’s right to defend itself.
