**Sports Ministry Suspends Paralympic Committee of India Over Election Delays**
The Sports Ministry of India has taken firm action by suspending the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) due to delays in conducting elections. The decision follows the PCI's failure to organize elections for its new Executive Committee within the mandated timeframe, violating its charter and the national Sports Code.
The Sports Ministry deemed PCI's decision to schedule elections on March 28 as intentional and not in line with regulatory frameworks. As a consequence, the ministry has revoked PCI's recognition, citing procedural irregularities.
In response to this suspension, the Sports Ministry has instructed the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to coordinate with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to establish an Ad Hoc Committee to oversee the affairs of Paralympic sports in India until new elections can be conducted.
This development underscores the government's commitment to ensuring transparency and adherence to guidelines within sporting organizations, emphasizing the importance of timely and fair elections in the administration of sports bodies.
