Nice post 👍
In the present age and times Romance has almost lost its meaning, I say “almost” cause I limit the the judgement based on my perceptions and understanding. Or may be, romance is so fast and shallow now, it stopped appealing to some people like me. It just goes past me as I seem to be too slow for it.
Pyaasa the movie is known for all its wonderful things, but one scene in particular keeps coming back to me. Its a scene when Gurudatt(Vijay) meets Mala Sinha(Meena) for the first time in their college, this is Romance at its best! The subtlety, poetry and the rendition makes me believe that romance is this and i resonate my uniqueness in someone’s perception of such moments.
Jab ham chaley toh saaya bhi apna saath na de
[When I walk , even my shadow doesn’t follow me]
Jab tum chalo, zameen chale, aasman chale
[When you walk, earth moves, sky moves]
Jab ham ruke toh ruke saath shaam-e-bekasii
[When I stop, the clouds of misery stop with me]
Jab tum ruko, bahar ruke, chandni ruke
[When you stop, spring stops, moonlight stops]
