RFEF Supports Referee Munuera After Real Madrid's Complaint Regarding Vinicius!
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has expressed full support for La Liga referee Juan Martinez Munuera after Real Madrid filed a complaint. The complaint pertained to the omission of alleged racist abuse towards Vinicius Junior in Munuera's match report following Madrid's victory over Osasuna.
Madrid claimed that Munuera intentionally left out the insults and derogatory remarks directed at Vinicius, despite being alerted by Madrid players during the match. However RFEF has claimed that no player or official from Real Madrid informed anything to the referee during the game.
In an official statement, RFEF wrote, "We must clarify that, once the audios of the match were reviewed, no indication was heard from any Real Madrid CF player regarding this issue nor, after the match, did the club delegate inform the referee of any incident related to these shouts or chants. Real Madrid CF is unaware that the Reporting Official of the match, who belongs to the Technical Committee of Referees, did reflect in his report those public incidents that he considered significant, fulfilling his duties as a Specialised Official in the fight against violence, racism and xenophobia granted by the General Regulations of the RFEF."
It has to be seen if Real Madrid will send a response to RFEF after their statement.
