Recovering from ACL Injury, Courtois Suffers Another Major Knee Injury!
Real Madrid's goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois will be out of action for a while due to a meniscus tear in his right knee. This setback adds to his previous absence this season because of an anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered last August.
Reports suggest that Courtois could be sidelined for around six weeks. During his absence, Andriy Lunin has taken over as the goalkeeper for Real Madrid. Under coach Carlo Ancelotti, the team has performed well and currently leads the LaLiga standings by eight points, ahead of rivals Barcelona.
A statement put up by Real Madrid read, "After the tests carried out today on Thibaut Courtois, he has been diagnosed with a torn internal meniscus in his right knee. The injury occurred during today’s training session.”
With just nine LaLiga games and a handful of Champions League games left in the season, Real Madrid will rely on Lunin's skills to maintain their position at the top of the league as Courtois may even be rested for the rest of the 2023/24 season to help him recover completely.
