Pakistan nationals raised slogans of 'Hindustan Zindabad' expressing gratitude to the Indian Navy after the Indian Navy rescued 23 Pakistanis from Somali pirates on March 29 in a maritime operation in the Arabian Sea. It is noteworthy that pirates had hijacked an Iranian flagged fishing vessel. Based on inputs about a piracy incident on an Iranian fishing vessel late in the evening of 28 March, two Indian Naval ships deployed in the Arabian Sea for maritime security operations were diverted to intercept the hijacked vessel. Following the rescue, the Indian Navy issued a statement saying it is committed to ensuring maritime security and the safety of sailors in the area.The Navy said in its statement that the expert teams of the Indian Navy have taken possession of the fishing vessel 'Al Qanbar 786' and completed its investigation. A Navy spokesperson said that action will be taken against the nine captured Somalian pirates under the Anti-Piracy Act, 2022. Naval specialist teams have completed the cleanliness and seaworthiness checks of Al Qanbar 786. Medical examination of 23 Pakistani crew has also been conducted.
