Pakistan Election: Will anything change?
Pakistan is heading for a general election tomorrow. In the fray are two scions of deep rooted Pakistan dynasty politics, Nawaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto. Then the shenanigans of keeping at bay the cricketer turned politician Imran Khan. So who will be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan, a country with 24 crore peope. A nuclear state with its economy plummeting to its nadir?
Well, none expects much from Pakistan election. The country never had a Prime Minister who lasted full term. Army ruled the country over three decades and its sway in politics is unimaginable for any democracy in the world.
Pakistan economy is in doldrums. The inflation is touching 30 per cent. The foreign exchange reserve is nothing much to country for. The IMF bailout of 3 billion USD has run its course. The terror outfits are in action in many parts of the country. The allegations of election fixing and rigging is already in the air with unprecedented action against former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
