Argentine great Diego Maradona (1960-2020), by all means, the greatest player the Italian club SSC Napoli ever had. He played for Napoli from 1984 to –91, where he enjoyed great success, raising the traditionally weak Naples side to the glory. He came to Napoli through FC Barcelona. And he was the costliest player at both clubs.
With Maradona the team won the league title and cup in 1987 and the league title again in 1990. He also took the club to the European club title. The city, poorest in Italy, found it's pride of place through Maradona, and played an important part in making him the legend that he has become. But it was not everything sugar, nice and spice for Maradona at Napoli it was here he was charged with cocaine possession and received a ban.
Next he played for Sevilla in Spain and Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina. In 1995 he returned to Boca Juniors and played his last match on October 25, 1997.
