Nottingham Forest Given Four-Point Deduction, Drop into Premier League's Relegation Zone!
Nottingham Forest have been docked four points in the Premier League for breaching spending rules, dropping them into the relegation zone. This decision makes them the second club to face penalties this season, following Everton's earlier deduction of six points.
Forest, managed by Nuno Espirito Santo, now sit 18th with 21 points (previously on 25 points) after their four-point deduction. However, They are expected to appeal this decision before the season ends.
The deduction came into play due to the Premier League introducing profitability and sustainability rules in 2013, limiting clubs' losses to £105 million over three seasons. Forest's excessive spending upon promotion led to their breach, having signed 42 players for around £250 million.
Everton could again be in line for deduction as they were charged, for the second time, alongside Forest in January, though they are not expected to learn of any punishment until next month.
With the relegation picture changing again, it has to be seen if this drama will lead to either Nottingham Forest, Everton, or even both clubs getting relegated at the end of the 2023/24 season.
