Maruti Suzuki, reigning as the best-selling SUV maker this fiscal year, is set for a robust product onslaught in the Indian market over the next three years. The lineup includes three SUVs, an MPV, a sedan, and two hatchbacks, marking the brand's strategic foray into new SUV segments and the burgeoning electric space. Here's a glimpse of the upcoming models:
1. Maruti Suzuki Y43 Micro SUV:
Expected to debut by 2026, this micro SUV will take on rivals like Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. Positioned below the Brezza and Fronx, it features a 1.2L Z series petrol engine with mild hybrid tech, possibly built on the Heartect platform.
2. Maruti Suzuki Y17 Grand Vitara:
Anticipated to launch next year, this seven-seater variant of the Grand Vitara retains its existing wheelbase but may sport minor cosmetic updates. Powered by a familiar 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engine, it aims to offer a spacious and updated SUV experience.
3. Maruti Suzuki eVX:
The first electric SUV from Maruti Suzuki, based on the eVX concept, is set to hit the market later this year. Built on the YY8 platform from Toyota's 40PL, it promises a claimed range of around 500 km on a single charge. Additionally, it will serve as the foundation for a Toyota sibling expected in early 2025.
