Mapusa Dream Crushers and Knight Archers registered victories on Saturday in the Alcon GSB Unity Cup cricket tournament organized by Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust in association with the Goa Saraswat Samaj. The matches were played at the Panaji Gymkhana ground.
Mapusa Dream Crushers defeated Mathgram Warriors by 136 runs in the third match of the tournament held in the morning session. Batting first, Dream Crushers ended Mathgram Warriors' innings at 82 in 18 overs after scoring 218 for 6 in 20 overs. Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar (39) was the top scorer for Mapusa. Chasing a huge target, only Ashay Ambe (26) provided some resistance for the Warriors. Mahesh Churi was the pick of the bowlers for Mapusa with four wickets for 17 runs. Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar was adjudged man of the match.
In the second match of the day, Knight Archers defeated CQS Scoring Willows by 26 runs. Knight Archers scored 153/7 in 20 overs. Man-of-the-match Nikit Naik Dalal (37) and Chaitanya Kamat (31) gave the team a 61-run opening stand. In the run chase, CQS disappointed with the exception of opener and captain Deval Karmali (24) and Balkrishna Hodarkar (20). For Knight Archers, Vrushabh Cuncoliencar was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/19.
