Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland will be the name on every club's lips when the summer transfer window opens in June. His agent Mino Raiola and father Alfie Haaland have started organizing meetings with individuals of potential clubs, who are in the race to sign Haaland.
Haaland's release clause of €75m can be triggered from the start of June 2022. Borussia Dortmund have lost faith in retaining the striker for next season, and have started looking for replacements.
Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are actively monitoring the situation through intermediaries, and have publicly accepted their genuine interest of attaining the Norwegian striker's service.
As per the Athletic UK's reliable reporter David Ornstein, Manchester City have shortlisted Erling Haaland as their No. 1 priority despite pursuing intensively for Harry Kane last summer.
Competition for the striker will be intense but City will push hard for Haaland's signature, after losing Aguero to Barcelona last summer.
Final decision will be taken by Haaland. Key factors such as agent commissions and insertion of various clauses will determine the next destination for the Norwegian striker. The total package will cost around €130m including agent fee to Raiola and Alfie Haaland.
In Ornstein's latest transfer column, it was mentioned that Real Madrid might drop out of the race if they bring in Kylian Mbappe. PSG would be another club who will be waiting to pounce and seduction from Bayern Munich cannot be dismissed. Manchester United are interested but it might not be the same from the opposite end i.e. Haaland's camp, after Mino Raiola's involvement with the club for the signing of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku.
Personally, I believe Real Madrid are the best suitors for his signature, but losing Mbappe will tempt PSG to force their intention to bring in the Norwegian. Manchester City will remain as an attractive option since his father Alfie played for the club.
