Manchester United look set to end Sergio Reguilon's season-long loan with the club and send the player back to Tottenham Hotspur in the coming days as per The Athletic.
As per the report, United are likely to break the loan deal as Luke Shaw has returned to fitness along with the anticipated return of Tyrell Malacia for the left-back position. Although Reguilon was part of Tottenham's pre-season under Ange Postecoglou, Destiny Udogie has secured the starting left-back role for the 2023/24 season. Following this, the Spaniard chose to move to Manchester United on loan last summer.
The option for Spurs to retain Reguilon for the rest of their campaign exists. Tottenham are competing in the Premier League and FA Cup at the moment hence retaining the Spaniard could increase their chances of getting a European berth. However, if Reguilon doesn't feature this month for Tottenham, the possibility of another loan emerges, given FIFA's rule allowing players to represent only two clubs in a season.
Reguilon played 12 games for Manchester United this season following his loan move. However, most of these appearances came from the substitutes bench. Will a return to Tottenham boost the 27-year-old's season? Let me know your thoughts...
