Manchester City take on Liverpool in a high-stakes match to kick off the Premier League action on Saturday. Though Liverpool are not challenging City for the title this season, they could still have a telling decision in who gets crowned the new champion of England!

The Sky Blues are currently eight points behind Arsenal, but have a game in hand. A loss to Liverpool would give the Gunners a chance to take the difference to double digits! The Reds stole the bragging rights when the two clubs faced each other in the Premier League before the World Cup. However, City returned the favour in December by knocking Liverpool out of the EFL Cup.

Given that City are still competing in the Champions League and the FA Cup as well, Pep Guardiola would have to chop and change his side in the coming games, giving Arsenal an advantage in those regards. Hence, the Liverpool game would be a must-win for Manchester City in order to remain in the title race.

If Manchester City lose, they would still not be completely out of the title race. Interestingly, Arsenal would be playing Liverpool next week, hence the Reds could have a chance to do Pep Guardiola's side a favour as soon as next week!
