LSU took a devastating loss to Iowa at the recent Women's College Basketball Championships. But something even more important needs to be discussed about this.
It's the juxtaposition between Iowa and LSU, and the way they treated the national anthem.
LSU decided that for the National Anthem, they would stay in the locker room and not show respect for the United States or its flag.
Today's America is an America marked by division. This type of attitude is the very reason why America is so divided. It's because these players, and people just like them, live in a country supported by their fellow countrymen, but which they do not support and which they actively oppose.
We are a nation of a diverse set of people who live under one flag. When you disrespect that flag, you disrespect the millions of Americans who support it. Is that your goal, LSU? Do you want to disrespect the tens of millions of Americans who support the flag and your game?
America doesn't need this, not on the national stage. The fact of the matter is that if you don't support and respect the flag, then the American people won't support and respect your game.
