Kerala State table tennis championships: Amir retains men’s title with ease
After all the fast and spicy action the last few days, the men’s final of the Kerala State table tennis championships was a rather quiet affair. Lefthander Amir Afthab, the second seed but virtually the No. 1 here with top-seeded K.S. Sreehari skipping the event as he had to write his university exams, brushed aside his Alappuzha District-teammate Udit Bhattacharjee comfortably to retain his title. Amir was too good and too fast for the fifth-seeded Udit, he attacked the corners to rack up points. The third game stretched a bit but that was because Amir appeared a bit casual but he pulled himself up to win the final 3-0.
Earlier, Palakkad’s A. Gourisankar won the under-19 boys title while Mohammed Naffil took the under-17 trophy.
