In the premier league, Chelsea drew to Fulham at Stamford Bridge with no goals scored in the game. The new signings Enzo and Murdyk got their first starts for the club. It was a very frustrating game to watch for the fans as the blues created enough chances to win the game but none of them in the back of the net.
Kai Havertz, playing as a striker, accumulated an XG of 0.68 taking 3 shots(2 big chances missed). The faithful fans of the bridge might forgive his consistent lack of contribution because of his Champions League final heroics while the rival fans take frequent digs and banter against the potential world-beater. All the blame can’t be on Havertz as well since Chelsea have been undergoing a turbulent time ever since his arrival(Lampard was sacked, Tuchel was brought in, Ownership changed, Potter being brought in). A stable club environment is a minimum for any young player to develop and fulfil his/her potential.
Kai Havertz at Leverkusen primarily played as a #10 with Volland upfront, and Brandt, and Bailey occupying the wings. One of the key qualities of these wingers was running towards the box rather than occupying the wings giving Havertz opportunities to use his spatial intelligence to either dictate play in the half-spaces or cross from the edge of the box. His stats in the Bundesliga: 150 games, 46 goals, 31 assists. His goals usually came from defenders finding difficulty in marking him due to Volland, Brandt, and Bailey occupying them.
