More power to you
I am Simmi Bhasin Founder of WOMEN WHO WIN (WWW) . Have 23 years of experience as a professional.
I have been born and brought up in Delhi, worked here but also a Mumbaikar in a way as I stayed for 7 years in Mumbai. Have worked with companies like Taj Hotels in Delhi, shifted to banking companies working in various capacities. A few years after my marriage and motherhood when my daughter was around four, my husband decided to move to Sydney for work and I decided to take a sabbatical.
After four years of sabbatical finding job wasn’t difficult. I was hired in a good company owing to my previous work. I was conscious of my sabbatical years and hence didn’t ask for good remuneration. Although taking a sabbatical, being just a full time mother doesn’t take away your achievements but I realised that the environment, the conditioning makes us underestimate and undermine our selves. We are just made to feel guilty that we were away from work. It was a start up and after working hard being an only female in the office we did a wonderful job. The company however couldn’t survive for absolutely different reasons. It was after that my CA asked me to start a company and join hands with him in running a company which provide placements. In 2009 when recession ended, I moved to Mumbai and worked in placements in travel, hospitality and banking sector. But it didn’t work out quite well so I had to shift to Powai. Shifting cities wasn’t easy but I didn’t want to give up. I upgrated myself by doing Entrepreneurship Program from ISB thet' were the inception of WWW happened. I realised there are multiple small time entrepreneurs who want to create brands, but they don’t know networking. I created a forum, I created a group in Facebook where people like me could connect. It was mostly for women, moms who wanted to start something on their own, professional who wanted to start work after taking breaks, small time entrepreneurs.
