"It was irrational," Helmut Marko on Sergio Perez's error in Monaco
Sergio Perez suffered a huge slip up in the drivers championship, as he fell 39 points behind Max Verstappen. The Mexican made a huge blunder in the qualifying of the Monaco GP, as he started 20th on the grid. The Red Bull driver failed to recover on Sunday, as he could finish only P16.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko was critical of Sergio Perez's error, and stated that it was irrational. He believes that this should be Perez's last mistake for the season, as he cannot avoid any further slip ups.
"His race was an impossibility. After the incident, it didn't matter anymore. Everything went wrong, but I hope Sunday's mistakes are enough for the rest of the season," Marko told Servus TV.
"In general, his speed when he was alone was good. But the incident ruined the whole weekend."
"It wasn't irresponsible, but it was irrational. The numbers speak for themselves: last on the grid, a broken wing, 16th place, two laps down and five pit stops," he added.
Known as the King of Street Circuit, Sergio Perez certainly had a disappointing result in Monaco. However, he needs to put the bad result behind him quickly, as the Spanish GP takes place this weekend.
