India has refuted Pakistan's recent allegations that Indian agents were responsible for the deaths of two Pakistani citizens within its territory in 2023. Terming the claims as "false" and part of "malicious anti-India propaganda," India's foreign ministry dismissed the accusations by Pakistan, emphasizing that they were baseless.
Pakistan's assertion comes following previous allegations by Ottawa accusing India of involvement in the murder of a Sikh separatist in Canada, a claim India vehemently denied. Islamabad stated it possesses "credible evidence" linking the two killings in Pakistan to Indian agents.
While detailing the deaths of Muhammad Riaz and Shahid Latif in September and October 2023, respectively, Pakistan's foreign ministry did not disclose the identities or motivations behind Delhi allegedly dispatching agents for these acts on its rival's soil. Indian Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Qazi called the killings a "violation of its sovereignty" and urged India to be held "accountable" for its alleged breach of international law.
India, in response, did not directly address the specific allegations but labeled Pakistan as an "epicentre of terrorism" and accused it of engaging in illegal transnational activities. The ongoing tension reflects broader geopolitical complexities, including recent allegations involving the Khalistan movement and strained relations between India and Canada.
