Not so long ago, shorthand was one of the fundamental skills a journalist needed to know to get a job as a reporter.
It was a technique invented by Sir Isaac Pitman, an English educator,
to take down information quickly. Even today, there are some jobs where knowledge of shorthand is a requirement.
For those who have mastered it, taking down notes was a breeze.
But learning shorthand was not easy. It required time, practice and most importantly, patience, to perfect the light and dark squiggles that constituted the script. But the effort was worthwhile. People who had mastery over the technique could take down notes at a top speed of 200 words per minute. For the uninitiated, shorthand would seem like a mystery.
Now consider female orgasm. Mastery over it is pretty much like shorthand. It takes time, practice and patience. But knowing it can transport a woman to such ecstasy that she would be able to experience what Osho, the late Indian mystic, would describe as the “first glimpse of Samadhi.” Samadhi is the highest state of meditation. Yet the goal of orgasm remains elusive to many. Even medical science is still to unravel it fully.
Studies in the past have documented that heterosexual men tend to have more consistent orgasm than heterosexual women. This in turn gave rise to the notion that only a few women could attain orgasm. Like many things related to female sexuality, this too is a misconception.
