Xhaka has taken up unusually advanced positions in his new job. In the Premier League this season, he has astonishingly recorded 30 more touches inside the penalty area of the opposition than Son Heung-Min (27) and has been involved in as many goals as Mo Salah (5).
Saka is no longer as crucial to Arsenal as he once was. He could even have to fight harder for his opportunities because, unlike Martinelli, he lacks a supportive, offensive-minded full-back. Despite this season's switch of Ben White to right-back, Saka has contributed including one goal and five assists in 8 league appearances.
Arsenal has moved to the top of the table after ten consecutive victories. With William Saliba on defense, they have improved overall, but their offense has really taken off. This season, Premier League goals per game have increased from 1.6 to 2.4. Their 61 goals last season were 38 less than champions City's total, but if they continue on their present trajectory, they should end up with 97 or so this year.
The goal for Arsenal this season would have been to return to the Champions League, but with Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham all struggling, there is now a feeling they may perform even better. Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira, and now Leandro Trossard’s additions offer Arteta's team more offensive depth, which will help him keep his players fresh during a demanding season with the possibility of winning both the Premier League and the Europa League. Since beginning the previous campaign with three straight losses, Arsenal has made significant progress. Arteta's survival once seemed improbable, but because of him, Arsenal are now dreaming of winning the Premier League.
