Barcelona's young star Gavi has been stripped off the number six jersey. The 18-year-old was all set to become a first-team player, sporting the famous number six jersey, but he would not be able to do so atleast until the end of the 22/23 season.
LaLiga took the matter to court and successfully had Gavi's registration revoked, citing financial constraints. As a result, the talented midfielder has been demoted to his youth contract, jeopardizing his future with the club.
Despite this setback, Gavi remains an integral part of manager Xavi's team and has already made 37 appearances this season. However, he'll have to make do with his old shirt number – 30 – for the rest of the campaign.
While Gavi's departure from Camp Nou seems unlikely, his situation highlights the harsh realities of professional football. Even young talents with immense potential are not immune to bureaucratic red tape and financial constraints. It remains to be seen how Gavi and Barcelona will navigate this setback.
