Without emotional support, no human being can survive. But the men our lives tend to ignore their emotions even more, because they've been expected since childhood to "bottle it all up". But here's how you can ensure their emotional well-being;
1 Urge them to share - Even if it seems he is shutting you out, try to involve him in light conversations about daily happenings, and encourage him to talk about how his day went. Let him share only as much as he wishes to. It will help him come out of his emotional confines.
2 Remain positive - It's important that you are always positive and calm - it shall give him emotional strength. You can also discuss ways of de-stressing or practicing self-care when he seems receptive.
3 Be supportive through tough phases - When times are difficult, avoid playing the blame game. Instead, try to see the situation from his point of view and extend comfort & support as required. Also ensure he gets a healthy diet and adequate rest.
4 Offer encouragement - It's important that he feels valued for what he does, so acknowledge his efforts and praise often.
