Your father, brother, husband, son, nephew may all be at risk of certain specific ailments. Here's what you should watch out for;
Gynaecomastia - At times, mostly due to hormonal changes, men's breasts become swollen & inflamed, causing deep embarrassment. During adolescence, boys tend to outgrow it. As men, they may need to lose weight. Surgery is the last resort.
Prostate issues - Part of the male reproductive system, the prostate may either become enlarged or malignant. Urinary incontinence, pain, blood in urine along with fever & body ache are the fallouts. It may be due to UTis, nerve damage or even emotional stress, and is more common as men grow older. While enlargement may be treated with medication or a minimally invasive surgery, prostate cancer needs radiation therapy, hormone therapy or surgery.
Varicocele - Enlargement of the veins within the scrotum (loose bag of skin that holds the testicles) is called varicocele. It happens when blood pools in the veins instead of getting circulated out of the scrotum. You may feel pain, a mass in the scrotum, one testicle may be noticeably smaller, or you may experience infertility. It can be treated surgically.
Testicular cancer - A painless lump or swelling in either testicle; or pain, numbness or discomfort in a testicle are symptoms of testicular cancer. Treatment includes chemotherapy, radiation therapy & immunotherapy. Surgery may also be required to remove the testicle or the nearby lymph nodes, depending on how far it has spread.
