Wow 😍
As football fever spreads like wildfire across all seven continents, Darjeeling welcomes this festivity in a grandeur manner. In a town that breathes and worships football, the "FIFA World Cup" is a festival that engulfs the whole of Darjeeling. From painting the streets in World Cup colors to dancing to the tunes of your favorite team. The people of Darjeeling leave no stone unturned to make this occasion extra special.
Football is quintessential in the everyday lives of the people residing in Darjeeling. The streets of Darjeeling echo the stories of the great Maradona's, Pele's, and Ronaldo's to the modern-day stars like Messi, Cristiano, and Neymar. From watching it on black and white television to projecting it in the streets of Chowrasta, Darjeeling has come a long way. But the craze and the love for "the beautiful game" is still immense.
So we, the people of Darjeeling, would like to welcome everyone with open arms to celebrate this occasion with us in a town full of smiles and good food.
Which team are you supporting?
I've been an England supporter all my life. Being an England fan is an emotional rollercoaster. One minute you're on top, and in the blink of an eye, you're down and out. From the 2018 heartache to getting knocked out in the group stages in Brazil, England is another term for heartbreak. But we've suffered enough, and I feel this year, "football is coming home."
On paper, England is not among the favorites. Owing to the biased team selection and the managers' on-field tactics. In a team that consists of a plethora of attacking talents like Kane, Foden, Bellingham, Maddison, etc. The managers' astute decision to concentrate more on defending rather than attacking has hampered England's progress. Southgate has achieved a lot in terms of accolades (taking England to the Euro Cup final to the 2018 semi-finals), but the football on the pitch has been a pain for all the "Three Lions" supporters.
Gareth Southgate, this term, needs to unchain his players and let them play free flowing, attacking football that England supporters have been devoid of for decades.
