Carlos Moya admits morale blow for Rafael Nadal after Australian Open setback
Rafael Nadal finally returned to the tour after almost 12 months at the Brisbane International earlier this month. The Spaniard managed to win two matches, and reach the quarterfinals, where he was defeated by Jordan Thompson in three sets.
After the defeat, Rafael Nadal revealed his concerns with injury, as he had to withdraw from the 2024 Australian Open. Now almost three to four weeks into his injury, the Spaniard has resumed training once again.
His coach Carlos Moya admits that it was a big morale blow for Rafael Nadal and the entire team to have a fresh injury concern. The Spaniard will now look to make his return to the tour at the Qatar Open.
"A break at these levels is 3-4 weeks and in this case we have been lucky that it has not gone further. This happens in sport, but it is true that the morale blow has been strong because he seemed prepared and problems from the past come back to you again," Moya told Punto de Break.
