In an ideal scenario, sex should only feel pleasurable and nothing else! But, a lot of the time, a stinging or burning sensation may get in the way of enjoying your romp sessions. So if it feels like someone sets your vagina on fire every time you attempt penetration, let's see what could be causing it;
An Infection - Yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis or even STIs like gonorrhoea & chlamydia can cause a stinging sensation during sex. See a doctor to get diagnosed & treated.
Vaginal Dryness - If you're not wet enough, sex can feel like it burns and hurts. Spend more time with foreplay before you go for penetration and use a water-based lube to avoid this!
Irritation or Allergy - If your genitals have already been irritated, friction from sex can worsen it. Avoid using soap down there and anything that's probably causing an allergic reaction - like a particular lube or fabric.
A Condition - Vaginismus is a condition where your vaginal muscles involuntarily contract during penetration. This can make sex very painful or impossible. There's also something called vestibulodynia, where there's chronic pain in the opening of the vagina. Get these treated by a doctor!
