Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has received an official reprimand for a level 1 breach of the ICC code of conduct during the fourth day of the first Test between India and England in Hyderabad. Bumrah deliberately stepped in the way of Ollie Pope while attempting a run in the 81st over of England's second innings. This marked Bumrah's first offence in the last 24 months, and a demerit point has been added to his record. The breach falls under Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct, addressing "inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person." The on-field umpires, along with the third and fourth umpires, were involved in levying the charges. Bumrah accepted the proposed sanction by match referee Richie Richardson, eliminating the need for a formal hearing. Despite the incident, England secured a 28-run victory over India in the Test match.
