Brilliant satire. This film is full of wry deadpan humour and could easily be mistaken for a straight drama. Going into this film with minimal context aside from 'this is a film set on a luxury yacht with super rich people and has Woody Harrelson in it'. The central narrative is totally engaging even as it makes its satirical jabs and carries the audience along as it becomes a bonkers melodrama. It is a film made by adults to entertain adults (but not in a pornographic sense). For example, the scene which features the drunken captain who claims to be 'a Marxist, but not a communist' arguing with a Russian oligarch, who is a ruthless capitalist but knows all the cant of the USSR, mocked all kinds of political hypocrisy. Likewise the story of the young couple struggling to apply feminist principles in their relationship. This film is able to mix up 'in your face' symbolism with subtle hints dropped along the way, through very detailed but creative film making - i.e the camera angles, the framing of scenes, the color palette used as well as symbolic imagery and additions (i.e the flys in the shots), all of which contribute to that 'open to interpretation' ending. A film to catch if you can!
