Barcelona Won't Mind Selling Lewandowski This Summer!
Barcelona are giving 35-year-old striker Robert Lewandowski the freedom to decide his future with the club before the next season. The club reportedly values him and wishes for him to stay, but they won't impede his departure if a tempting offer arises. Diario Sport reports that Barcelona has communicated this stance to Lewandowski's agent, Pini Zahavi.
Although Lewandowski is under contract until 2026, uncertainties surround his position in the team. The Polish striker hasn't consistently displayed his top form this season, yet he remains Barcelona's leading scorer this campaign. Overall, the 35-year-old has scored 45 goals in 73 appearances for the club.
Rumors link Lewandowski to clubs in Saudi Arabia, but he has expressed his desire to compete at the highest level for "three or four more years." However, despite being a key player, Lewandowski is no longer indisputable, evidenced by his substitution after just over an hour against Betis.
Competition in attack has heightened with Vitor Roque's emergence and the club could possibly sign another forward or winger this summer. In essence, Barcelona respect Lewandowski's role but they will let Lewandowski go if the striker opts for a new challenge elsewhere.
