Barcelona News: Juan Laporta Hatches Plan to Sign Erling Haaland!
Barcelona are making big plans to sign Erling Haaland from Manchester City, according to Diario Sport's David Reverter. According to the report, Barça have hatched a long-term strategy to bring Haaland in for the 2026/27 season.
Barcelona's sporting director, Deco recently met with Haaland's agent, Rafaela Pimenta, and discussed the potential move. Joan Laporta, the club's president, sees Haaland as a key signing for his re-election campaign in 2026. Barcelona aims to regain financial stability by then to afford the Manchester City superstar.
Haaland's release clause in his Manchester City contract is reportedly €175 million and Barcelona are reportedly planning to pay out the Norwegian from his City contract. This would be a club-record signing, showing Barcelona's determination to compete with the best teams.
With the club still having more than 24 months in hand to prepare a bid and pay up for Haaland, it has to be seen if Barcelona will eventually land up the Norwegian or will shift their attention to any other top talent by then.
